Arts Administration

Approach

As an arts administrator, I am fiercely dedicated to eliminating barriers to the arts: financial barriers, cultural gatekeeping, cultural elitism, and others. I believe that access to arts and culture is a right, not a privilege, and strive to make today’s arts organizations meet the need of the moment. Read below to learn more about just some of my favorite past and current projects.

Watertown Arts Market

When working at New Repertory Theatre in Watertown, Massachusetts in 2019, I was approached by Doug Orifice, a local financial advisor who was assembling the Watertown Business Coalition. As a leader in the local arts community, I was asked to join the WBC as the arts ambassador, and to consider what Watertown artists needed for support.

From here came the idea of the Watertown Arts Market - like a farmer’s market, but for local artists of all kinds and mediums. I served as the founder and chair of WAM from 2019 - 2021, and volunteer annually with its amazing team. It has truly been one of my favorite projects. Now a thriving annual event free to the public, the WAM typically promotes 75+ local Watertown artists.

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus

I’m thrilled to be the first Director of Development for the Jerusalem Youth Chorus, a choral and dialogue program for Palestinian and Israeli youth in Jerusalem. Our mission is to provide a space for these young people from East and West Jerusalem to grow together in song and dialogue. Through the co-creation of music and the sharing of stories, we empower youth in Jerusalem with the responsibility to speak and sing their truths, as they become leaders in their communities and inspire singers and listeners around the world to work for peace, justice, inclusion, and equality.

Emmanuel Music

I previously worked full-time as the Executive Director for Emmanuel Music, a 501(c)3 professional orchestra and chorus whose mission is to engage with audiences and musicians to explore the enduring questions of our shared human experiences, building on our core commitment to the music of J.S. Bach. Founded in 1970, Emmanuel Music is $1.3 million organization with truly exceptional artistic quality, and a rapidly scaling administration.

Some of my favorite projects with this group are BachLab, our premiere podcast, and our cultivation of authentic community partnerships.
